About I. C.

Hi, I’m Indie Citizen!
I think a few things that you might wanna know about me is that I was born in the Pearl of the Orient Sea (notice the “Sea” cause it means that I didn’t come from China). I’m now living on this great large country near the 5 lakes which borders us from the south. I am a university student and I am trying to pursue something related to languages. I’m studying Japanese and Spanish (later on French, German and Mandarin Chinese) not just to add to my native language (which apparently I grew up with in that motherland I mentioned before-pearl of the orient sea) and English, but to also use them to communicate with people, make friends and share what I love to do.
I love reading. I like getting a free newspaper from news boxes every morning and reading them in the bus. I love collecting novels. I think I can share the fact that I am no good when it comes to poetry. I dislike poetry a lot since I’m not really good with deixis - I experience very few things in my life since that I can associate or fit in poetry.
Speaking of music, the only music that I love and will love for the rest of my life is the music created by The Carpenters. Karen’s voice is just amazing and it surprised me in my younger years to discover that she’s also playing the drums - she got an unusual role for a band member I thought: vocals & drums. Richard indeed is a great pianist, composer, leader, and loving brother to Karen.
They had such a great career! I love the songs, they were true to their passion and love of music and they wanted excellence in what they do not just in the studio but also in every concert they perform at whether it would be in the US, Japan, the UK, Brazil, The Carpenters is just a delight for this world to have. Unfortunately, their career got cut short because of the tragic death of Karen through a disease which no one knew about that time.
I always wondered what this world would look like if Karen were still alive. It would be phenomenal I have to agree, but I guess it would be best to associate The Carpenters to what I personally call the golden age of contemporary music in the ’60s and ’70s along with the likes of The Beatles, David Gates & Bread, The BeeGees, The Jackson Five, KC and the Sunshine Band, The Fifth Dimension, Led Zeppelin, Peter Paul & Mary, The Stylistics, John Denver, The Village People, Kenny Rogers, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Beach Boys, etc. to name several.

Other things I like to do is to play board games: chess, go and othello are some of the games that I love playing and it’s hard to say that I am passionate about them because it’s tedious work sometimes to know your mistakes and ask yourself how to win next time around.
~
I also watch anime series, japanese drama series, several American comedy shows and cartoons, Foreign Films, Documentaries and Magazine Shows, Basketball, Ice Hockey, Football (Soccer) most especially the world cup, and Discovery Channel.
~
I listen to 99.1 CBC Radio One here in Toronto, the best source for new information, educational documentaries and music that is diverse to the point that I learn something beyond the music that they play.
~
I think I said it earlier but I read novels! And through this blog, I will be documenting my thoughts on novels that I read and skim through. I also read Japanese-language manga, Spanish novels and books on biography, language helping resources and periodicals such as The Nihongo Journal, Correo Canadiense, The Toronto Star, York University’s Excalibur and Macmedia, Bits Japanese Magazine.
~
I love drawing comics. Comics for me is an expression of my thoughts on different issues that human beings are facing. Nowadays, I’m not drawing that much because of focusing with other things. But if given the chance, I will focus on drawing and all its intricacies. Right now, I’m trying to polish everyday my communication skills from written to spoken as it has been my main focus throughout my post-secondary life - well I’m taking a major related to languages so it involves a lot of the aspects of communication from grammatical acquisition to considering its sociological and cultural elements and the hardest part is the cross-linguistic competence where one translates one language into another - thing is that it’s not just solely on translation between two languages (English to Japanese, German to Spanish, etc.) but you get these even within speakers of one specific language (American English vs. Canadian English vs. Scottish English vs. South African English vs. Indian English vs. Caribbean English and so on).
~
I also love calligraphy. I have created several writing systems that can be used to write different languages. I rely sometimes on the International Phonetic Alphabet to successfully create an alphabet that can be artistic yet functional.
~
I am working hard to create more friends around me and for this, I start to enjoy myself with community and volunteer work and leadership programs that can bring forth initiative, respect, trustworthiness, patience and responsibility as my best traits.
I do have a long list of my beliefs and principles. If you’d like to take a look at it, check out “My Philosophy” on the menu above.
Anyways, to everyone who will come by and read my blogs, please receive my greatest thanks and regards.
Please do message me if ever you want to keep in touch!
Cheers!

PRAYER FOR HELP
Lord God, you are everything to me. My spirit rejoices in you, my Savior. Thank you for seeking me when I was lost and for finding me. Thank you for choosing me to go forth and bear lasting fruit in your name. Thank you for enabling me to bear fruit for you, Lord. Without you, I can do nothing.
You are good, O Lord, and you are always ready to forgive. Thank you for your plentiful mercy in my life which I always receive when I call upon you. You are always there to help me; therefore, I will never be confounded. I have set my face like a flint, and I know that you will never let me be ashamed.
You truly are a very present help to me, and I am receiving your help even now as I pray. Thank you, Father. You are my refuge and strength, and because this is true, I will not fear anything or anyone.
You are in my midst, and I will not be moved. You are always there to help me speedily. You are with me, Lord. Knowing this, I will be still. I know that you are my God. Thank you for your constant help in my life, Lord.
PRAYER FOR THE FAMILY
Lord God, from you every family
in heaven and on earth takes its name.
Father, you are Love and Life.
Through your Son, Jesus Christ, born of woman,
and through the Holy Spirit, fountain of divine charity,
grant that every family on earth may become
for each successive generation
a true shrine of life and love.
Grant that your grace may guide the thoughts and actions
of husbands and wives
for the good of their families and of all the families in the world.
Grant that the young may find in the family
solid support for their human dignity
and for their growth in truth and love.
Grant that love,
strengthened by the grace of the sacrament of marriage,
may prove mightier than all the weakness and trials
through which our families sometimes pass.
Through the intercession of the Holy Family of Nazareth,
grant that the Church may fruitfully carry out
her worldwide mission in the family
and through the family.
Through Christ our Lord, who is the Way, the Truth and the Life
for ever and ever. Amen.
PRAYER FOR FRIENDS
Lord, thank You for loyal, loving friends
Who are there in winter or springtime fair.
New acquaintances are easy to come by,
But true friendship is extremely rare.
A friend always sees the best in you,
Although they’ve known you at your worst.
They laugh with you in the good times,
When storms threaten, they’ll be there first.
They’ll offer a shoulder to rest your head
When tears are welling in your eyes.
Take a walk down friendship’s path with you
And help chase away those stormy skies.
Lord, thank You for all the gifts You give;
Each one makes our life seem more worthwhile.
But one of the finest gifts you’ve given us
Is the warmth of friendship’s loving smile
